The best leather shoes are not disposable. With the right care and repair, a well-made pair will outlast many cheaper alternatives — and improve with every year of wear. At A.McDonald, we repair shoes with the same attention we bring to making them.

Our workshop at the Strand Arcade handles everything from sole and heel replacement to full resoling and leather care. Whether your shoes are due for a Topy sole protector, a new heel top piece, or a more involved repair — bring them in and we'll assess what's needed.

Our repair services

Topy sole protection A Topy rubber sole protector is applied to the sole of your shoe, extending its life significantly and improving grip. One of the most effective and affordable things you can do for a quality leather shoe.

Heel top piece replacement Worn heel tops are replaced with precision — maintaining the correct height and profile of the original heel.

Full resole When the sole is beyond a surface repair, a full resole restores the shoe to its original specification. The upper is carefully separated, a new sole is fitted, and the shoe is finished as new.

Leather conditioning & polish Professional cleaning, conditioning, and polishing using Saphir products — the standard for fine leather care.

Stitching repair Broken or lifted stitching on uppers or soles is repaired by hand in our workshop.
