Description
The Ghillie lacing system — long laces tied around the ankle rather than through standard eyelets — gives this shoe a rawness that conventional lacing can't replicate. It's an older form, closer to its origins, and Andrew McDonald's interpretation respects that without being precious about it.
The wide fit ghillie addresses a gap that very few makers fill — the open-lace, ankle-tie form in a last that gives the foot real room. The long laces wrap around the ankle in the traditional manner; the wide fit ensures the shoe can actually be worn for the duration. Made at the Andrew McDonald workshop in Sydney.
