Description
The Nico is a wide-fit derby cut along clean, unhurried lines — a shoe that suits a boardroom as readily as a weekend in the city, without announcing itself in either.
Upper and lining are cut from Italian box calf in a deep, even black. Box calf is a chrome-tanned leather known for its tight grain, smooth surface, and the way it develops a quiet patina with wear rather than a high shine that quickly dulls.
Each pair is Goodyear welted, attaching the upper to a leather insole and oak-bark outsole through a method that allows resoling and improves with age. The Nico is built on last 5239 — Andrew McDonald's widest last, with a generous toe box that gives the foot room to settle over the course of a long day.
