Description
The Spiral Lace Boot in seaweed yak is a quietly commanding derby boot — its distinctive lacing giving the silhouette an unhurried, sculptural quality that sets it apart from the conventional.
The upper is cut from yak leather in a deep seaweed tone, a hide known for its dense, slightly matte surface and pronounced natural grain. It develops a rich, lived-in patina with wear, darkening at the flex points and taking on a depth that smooth leathers rarely achieve. The full leather construction extends through to the oak bark-tanned double sole, insole, heel, lining, and stiffeners — a commitment to material integrity throughout. A handmade brass heel puller completes the boot with a considered, functional detail.
Built in Andrew McDonald's Sydney workshop at The Strand Arcade, the sole is attached using a combination of Blake stitching and wooden pegging — a construction that keeps the profile close and lean underfoot while delivering lasting durability. An optional rubber top piece can be added to the leather sole for $80.
