Description
The Double Monk is one of footwear's most enduring forms — two buckles, no lace, a silhouette that has remained essentially unchanged because it has nothing left to improve. Andrew McDonald's version is built on the last 1708 with Blake stitch construction and all-leather interior.
Antique cognac on box calf is a hand-finished treatment — built-up darker tones at the edges and seams, lighter at the centres of the panels — applied before the shoe reaches the customer. The double monk's two buckles create a natural breaking point for the patina to concentrate around. Every pair reads slightly differently.
