Description
The Asymmetric Derby is Andrew McDonald's reinterpretation of a form that has been around for centuries. The offset lacing panel breaks the expected symmetry of the derby, creating a shoe that reads as considered without announcing itself. Blake stitch construction, all-leather interior, built for the long term.
Black frisone culatta combines two exceptional materials in one shoe. Frisone is horse leather with an open, pronounced grain — rougher and more textural than calf, carrying a character that smooth leathers don't possess. Culatta is the densest section of the hide, used here for the back quarter with a distinctive stitched detailing that adds structural interest at the heel without competing with the asymmetric panel at the front. In black, the contrast between the frisone upper and the culatta quarter is subtle — a tonal variation in surface texture rather than colour.
