GLOSSARY: HANDLASTING

DEFINITION

The shoe is made by hand in the maker's lap or standing at the a last jack. The procedure is to place the upper over the edge of the last with the back slightly below the back of the last and pull over the form of the last. Handlasting does not require machinery, only handworking tools.
