Cutting and skiving the upper

Cutting the upper, skiving the upper and folding the upper piece edge in preparation for closing (stitching )the upper pieces. All the stiffeners toe puffs and heel counters are cut from veg tanned natural finish leather sides. Once the pieces have been cut they are individually skived whilst wet. After skiving, the stiffeners are hammered to compress leather fibres to create structure.
